Marlow Public Schools recently recognized former Marlow Board of Education member Mark O’Neal for an extraordinary 25 years of dedicated service to the district and the Marlow community.

O’Neal, a lifelong Marlow resident and 1986 graduate of Marlow High School, has spent a quarter of a century helping guide the district and make decisions that have shaped the educational experience of generations of Marlow students. During his 25 years on the Board of Education, O’Neal provided steady leadership through numerous milestones and periods of change for Marlow Public Schools. His tenure included multiple superintendent transitions, major bond projects and construction efforts, the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the hiring of countless educators, administrators and staff members who have served Marlow students.

"I am very appreciative of the years of service Mark gave to help make our school so successful," MPS Superintendent Corey Holland said. "Mark always sought to do what was best for students. His leadership on the board will be greatly missed."

O’Neal’s commitment to Marlow extends well beyond the Board of Education. He and his wife, Angie (Perkins) O’Neal, are both Marlow High School graduates and have deep roots in the community. The couple has three children, Jake, Megan and Chance, all of whom are Marlow graduates. Professionally, O’Neal owns O’Neal’s Foreign Car Service in Duncan, where he has built a career serving the community while continuing to dedicate his time and leadership to Marlow.

Throughout his time on the board, O’Neal helped provide continuity and perspective during periods of growth, challenge and change. His 25 years of service represent thousands of hours spent attending meetings, evaluating district needs, supporting staff and students, and helping make decisions with the future of Marlow Public Schools in mind.

"MPS is the best school in the state and that is because we have great students, great teachers, and great administrators," O'Neal said. "I want to thank the citizens of Marlow for electing me and trusting in me to serve on the Marlow Board of Education."

Marlow Public Schools extends its sincere appreciation to Mark O’Neal for 25 years of faithful service and leadership. His commitment to the district is a reflection of the pride, tradition and community spirit that make Marlow special.
